To Enter the Halter Show

•An option for those who are already registered but did not get a stall before they sold out: The registration site has a bulletin board where you may post a message to see if anyone has stall space available that they would be willing to share with you. click here to go to the online registration site, and click on "Request or Offer Stall Space". Once you make arrangements with someone to share a stall with you (you do this with them - not the GMAF show committee), then you may register your animals.

•Registration IS NOW CLOSED. All payments and ARI Certs must have been postmarked by APRIL 2nd, 2008 or are now considered late. A $50 late fee will be applied to payments, ARI Certs and Exhibitor Disclosure Forms postmarked after April 2nd, 2008. No refunds on cancellations after April 1.

•Substitutions will ONLY be allowed for verified medical emergencies

•Under the Show Division Handbook Rules, certain alpacas and fleeces are automatically disqualified from competition and certain Exhibitors & Handlers are prohibited from personally showing in front of a Judge when a business or financial relationship exists between an AOBA Certified Judge and their customers.

Health Requirements

• A Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 30 days of the last day of the show is required for ALL animals entering the Coliseum and is required to check in. Please contact the Wisconsin State Veterinary Office for further information regarding livestock transportation in Wisconsin at 608-224-4872.

• Alpacas must show no evidence of infectious or contagious disease – any animal showing evidence of disease will be asked to leave immediately.

• Alpacas must be wormed seven days before the show.

• Health papers are required upon arrival and before exhibitor receives show packet.

• All alpacas must be officially and individually identified on the health certificate by alpaca name and microchip.

• A veterinarian will be available Friday night during check-in and throughout the show if services are needed. Breeders will be billed directly for any services performed and such services are the sole responsibility of the individual breeder.

BVD: In response to increased concern over recent diagnosed cases of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) within the U.S. alpaca community, all alpacas arriving at the show must be tested for the presence of an active BVDV infection. Testing is being required to prevent any Persistently Infected (PI) alpacas from entering the facility and being an infective risk to other alpacas.

•Documentation of a negative PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) or VI (Virus Isolation) BVDV test is required before alpacas can be offloaded at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center.

• All alpacas entered or present at the show must be tested and be negative PCR or VI for BVD. One test in the lifetime of the alpaca is sufficient to ensure that it is not a PERSISTENTLY INFECTED (PI) alpaca. The negative PCR or VI BVD test must be stated on the CERTIFICATE of VETERINARY INSPECTION (HEALTH PAPERS).


Check-in

Prior to the show, you will receive a confirmation email from the Show Superintendent with specific check-in instructions.

Check-in begins on Friday at 12pm, color check begins at 1 pm, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum. All animals must be color checked by 7 pm.

The Coliseum is located on the east side of the Alliant Energy Center grounds on Rimrock Road, on the southeast side of Madison. It is easily accessible from the Beltline (Highway 12-18). The Coliseum is handicap-accessible and also has on-site lighted parking. Animals will be unloaded only at the north entrance of the Coliseum, and vehicles must be moved from the area immediately after unloading. See the Accommodations and Directions page for maps.

Stalling

To reserve stall space at The Great Midwest Alpaca Festival, you must enter and exhibit at least one alpaca in the show.

2 stalls - suri left, huacaya right

• All alpacas entered and exhibited must be stalled.

• 9 x 9 ft stalls - panels will be provided

• 3 alpacas allowed per stall, including crias

• Cost $150 (Limit 5, includes farm display & stalls included with sponsorship)

• Electricity is available for $25. Bring your own extension cords. PLEASE NOTE: if you do not register for electricity in your online registration prior to the show and you request electricity at the show there will be a $100 charge.

• We expect to fill the facility and stalls are limited, so they will be assigned first-come, first-served, according to postmark.

• All stalls must be covered – bare concrete is not allowed in stalls. Cardboard bedding will be provided, however, you may want to bring a mat to place over the cardboard. A vendor will have mats available for sale.

• If you are interested in purchasing bags of cardboard to take home from the show and save on shipping costs, contact Dennis Pace.

Farm Displays

• Farm displays are intended to promote your farm or ranch. You may sell alpaca-related items from your farm display but the sales area should not exceed 25% of the total floor area of your farm display. If you require more area for sales, you may purchase a separate (10 x 10 ft) vendor space in the Mezzanine area.

• Please consider donating an item to the Silent Auction. For more info on donations, contact Mindy Huitt.

• Cost: $150

• Displays are not permitted to extend into the aisles.
